Traditional Welsh Food

Traditional Welsh Food

What better way to celebrate St David’s Day than with tasty, traditional Welsh food?

And, as there’s plenty to choose from, these are just some of our favourites.

Look out for them on local menus and give them a try:

Bara Brith – Rich, fruity loaf made with tea. Enjoy with a spread with butter and with a panad (cuppa) to wash it down (pictured above)

Welsh Cakes – Made with sweet currants and spices, Welsh Cakes are best served warm. Be warned, they are very more-ish!

Glamorgan Sausages – These traditional Welsh vegetarian sausages are made with Caerphilly cheese and leeks and rolled in breadcrumbs. Great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Welsh Rarebit – Much more than cheese on toast! Thick slices of bread are smothered with cheese & beer sauce and then toasted for a delicious, cheesy treat.

Lamb – We couldn’t mention Welsh food without talking about the famous lamb! With miles of green hills to feed from, Welsh lamb has its own distinct and sweet flavour. And if you see lamb on a restaurant menu during your stay then you know it’s as local as it gets.
